About The Corner
As old as The University of Virginia itself, founded in 1819, The UVA Corner is renowned as the place where a college got its essentials – from books to clothing, from food to lodging. Over the years The Corner has come to reflect the essence of UVA. Just off “Grounds,” over two dozen restaurants feed a hungry University and set the table of daily life here.
What to Expect
On this 3 hour walking food tour, you’ll visit some of the most famous restaurants and taste some of the best dishes on The UVA Corner while also learning about the history of this magnetic district.
You’ll meet your Guide at Corner Bodos, 1609 University Avenue, an iconic Charlottesville restaurant popular with students. Over the next 3 hours you’ll visit 5 classic Corner “haunts” to taste delicious dishes* with the option to add alcoholic drink pairings and an additional wine or chocolate tasting.**
You’ll taste famous made-from-scratch bagels, Cantonese Gyoso dumplings, fresh-pressed cure shots, traditional za'atar & jebneh on Lebanese flatbread, and the sweetness of a bubble tea that's all the rage in China!
In between stops, you’ll learn about the history and evolution of an historic district as old as The University itself.
